The ACE Interface presentation is presented in three sections:

1) Neurobiology & Epigenetics

2) Key Findings from the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study

3) A basic framework for thinking about resilience

A Regional ACE Interface Presenter Training trains a diverse and inclusive group of 30 applicants affiliated with Collaboratives to present the Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences: Building Self-Healing Communities presentation widely throughout their communities. Presenters expedite the spread of ACEs and resilience research by offering Understanding ACEs presentations to audiences of parents and diverse sectors. Sharing this knowledge across a community was found to be a key foundational step that helped achieve tremendously positive outcomes for children, youth, and families in Washington State.

Some things to consider:

• What is the depth and breadth of enthusiasm and energy for this work in your Collaborative’s community? Will there be a group of at least 3 - 5 people from your Collaborative who are interested enough to apply to attend a 2-day Regional ACE Interface Presenter Training, and then present the Understanding ACEs curriculum in your community at least 2 times in the coming year?
• Has your Collaborative looked at your key community data impacting children, families, and ACE related health and social outcomes? For example, what are the rates of out of home placement? Are there racial disparities in out of home placement, health, education, or other areas?  What are the key health, risk factors, and social problems facing your community? Are the people interested in attending a Regional ACE Interface Presenter Training representative of families impacted by ACEs and providers addressing those key challenges?

• Is there a group in your Collaborative community that has convened, separate from your Collaborative’s initial 3 - 5 presentations, to consider developing a plan to reduce ACEs and build resilience in your community? Are there people with passion and skills ready to create connections and change?

• Is there a small group of individuals ready and able to coordinate the work of ACE Interface presenters in your Collaborative’s community? This includes matching presenters with requests for presentations if needed, being the main point of contact for ongoing coordination with MCCC, ensuring data collection, and convening the cohort of presenters 2 - 3 times per year as a learning community. Communities that have shown significant reductions in violence and increases in health outcomes have engaged in an ongoing process of expanding leadership, coming together, shared learning, and results-oriented decision-making.

• Is your planning group diverse and inclusive?  Has your Collaborative reached out to inform and involve diverse populations (i.e., racial and cultural communities, gender balance, economic diversity, etc.)? Are there people representing diverse communities, parent recipients of services, multiple service sectors, and other key groups in your community willing to apply to attend the Regional ACE Interface Presenter Training
