The Children and Youth Work Group of A Minnesota Without Poverty (http://mnwithoutpoverty.org/) is recruiting citizen advocates to lobby for children in foster care and protective services. Additional advocates are needed in Ramsey County, where team members are already meeting with County Commissioners. The team will start meeting with state Senators and Representatives shortly. Individuals are also needed to fill out advocacy teams in Hennepin and Washington Counties. Estimated commitment is 5-10 hours per month. Volunteers will receive:
* Two state training sessions to understand child welfare programs
* An annual “report card” on their county’s performance
* Ongoing support to interpret the report card and to meet with elected officials
