If you are interested in starting a Circle of Parents group in your area, first connect with PCAMN to be directed to the staff member in your area. Your staff contact will help you develop your chapter and provide training and technical assistance as you form your group. The following trainings are offered for those starting new chapters:
CIRCLE OF PARENTS® FACILITATION SKILLS
Using a combination of hands-on activities, presentation, discussion, and stories, this training will give you the basic skills to begin facilitating mutual self-help Circle of Parents® groups with confidence. This training is perfect for new facilitators and as a refresher course for current facilitators.
- This training builds on the strengths of the past by providing greater opportunity to practice skills, increase knowledge of how groups work and become even more grounded in the values of mutual self-help, shared leadership and family support.
CIRCLE OF PARENTS® CHILDREN’S PROGRAM
This training is designed to help build confidence and skills in dealing with children. Focus is put on learning to understand and manage children’s behaviors as well as your own. Special attention will be paid to family and protective factors, roles and responsibilities, and mandated reporting issues.
The Children’s Program training is for new children’s program leaders and assistants. The children’s program training includes:
- Roles and responsibilities of volunteers
- Mandated reporting
- Children’s resilience
- Positive approaches to children
- Establishing activity structure and routines
